Simplified Technical English (STE) is a method of writing that makes technical English easy to understand. The adaptation of STE stimulates the (global) acceptance of technical documentation as it improves readability and translatability, and prevents misunderstandings and misinterpretations.
Training
Tedopres organizes a 2-day training course to introduce you to the world of controlled language. During the training we will explain the benefits of STE using case studies, and show how overall cost, time to market and content volume will be reduced and how you can save considerably on translations: up to 40% per language! In addition, writers, editors and engineers learn how to write technical English in a clear, concise and consistent way. The training comprises lots of hands-on exercises, focusing on workarounds for common problems.

- Introduction Simplified Technical English
Introduction and brief historic overview of the standard; outlining the benefits of implementation. - Grammar rules
Explanation of the grammar rules. - Writing rules & terminology
Explanation of the writing rules, including which words are allowed, and which words are not, sentences, procedural and descriptive writing, warnings, cautions and notes, punctuation, word counts and good writing practices. Each session will be concluded with delegates practicing what they have learned using exercises. - Workshop
All delegates are asked to bring their own material that will be rewritten individually and discussed as a group.
About the Trainer
Content quality advocate Berry Braster has managed the implementation of controlled language standards, including the training of writers and engineers, checker software and how to manage terminology effectively, with fortune 500 companies as well as with medium- to small-sized companies over the past 11 years.
