Content Management
A content management system (CMS) is a software system that allows its users to manage the creation of content of documents and other content, such as images and multimedia resources. A CMS allows an organization to create, store, control, version, and publish different types of documentation such as operators’ manuals, technical manuals, but also marketing brochures, news articles or website content.
The overall idea is to create content once, and reuse it throughout different types of documentation, so that efficiency is obtained, and cost savings are created.
Tedopres offers you HyperDoc, one of the leading content management systems in the market today. HyperDoc allows you to:
- Import and create content for documentation and multimedia material
- Identify key users and their roles
- Assign roles and responsibilities to different content categories or types
- Define content workflow tasks
- Track and manage multiple versions of a single instance of content
- Publish the content to any type of media: web, printed documents, CD-ROMs, etc.
HyperDoc: creating, storing and publishing of content
Various types of information are involved in the creation of content: text, graphics, illustrations, simulations, etc. HyperDoc allows you to create content using different types of authoring tools, including FrameMaker, Epic, XMetal and Word. HyperDoc is integrated within any of these authoring tools in the form of a plug-in.
HyperDoc stores the information in the form of building blocks in an online XML database, so that the information is available to any user who has been given access. Within these building blocks, HyperDoc allows the text to be separated from formatting and structure, which will later be determined as this depends on the different types of documents you would like to generate. XML also allows you to make the content available for any type of media, whether you need to publish to the web, on paper, or on CD-ROM.
For new content, new building blocks are generated. To reuse content, existing building blocks are extracted from the XML database.
During the creation of content, HyperDoc provides continuous support. For instance, you are able to see whether the content is available in different languages, whether content is up-to-date or obsolete, which user(s) made changes, or in which documents certain building blocks are used.
Overview

XGEN: convert existing content to XML
HyperDoc makes use of XGEN (XML Generator), a software tool that generates existing data and converts it to XML. For instance, if price lists, data sheets or catalogues need to be created, you can use XGEN to generate the applicable data from systems like ERP, CRM, databases or simply Word, FrameMaker or any other type of files. XGEN then generates an XML file, which is then ready for publication.
XGEN provides a huge benefit as it enables you to publish on-demand documents in a quick, efficient and time-saving manner, reducing your time-to-market considerably.
PDO: Product Data Organization
HyperDoc uses PDO (Product Data Organization) to organize product data, which increases the time-to-market even further due to a clear overview of information.
HyperDoc features:
- Available as a plug-in for Word, FrameMaker, Epic and XMetal
- Easy integration of any DTD, EDD, etc. (mumasy, DocBook, DITA, S1000D, Tedopres DTD, etc.)
- Translation workbenches (translation memory systems) are integrated
- Standard automation tools PDO and XGEN are integrated
- Translation management tools are integrated
- Supports different type of graphics, including SVG and XVL
