New controlled language: Strukturiertes Technisches Deutsch

April 28, 2006

In close co-operation with representatives of various leading German companies, Tedopres has developed a specification for "Strukturiertes Technisches Deutsch".

The advantages of Simplified Technical English are obvious, yet a good part of the German industry uses German as a source language for their technical documentation. Following Tedopres' development of a Simplified Technical Russian specification, we have now developed a specification for the German language: Strukturiertes Technisches Deutsch (STD).

To ensure that the specification practically applies to the German industry, companies such as AEG/Electrolux, Bürkle, Eurocopter, Homag, Rohde & Schwarz and Trumpf have contributed to its realization. Their input determined to a great extent what the set of writing rules and the baseline dictionary would look like. Consequently, Tedopres has developed a checker tool for Simplified Technical German: HyperSTD.

Strukturiertes Technisches Deutsch will be officially introduced at the 2006 Tekom Sping Fair in Weimar (May 4-5).
